Remembering Glenn Gould Twenty Interviews With People Who Knew Him
This interview took place in Roberts's business office in Toronto on January 24, 2011. Here, Roberts describes the shocking and tragic day when Gould suffered a fatal stroke.
Ray Roberts: the Loyal Assistant
Ray Roberts was born in Toronto, in 1939. As a boy he attended Lord Dufferin Public School, where he befriended Lorne Tulk, who later became the recording technician for Gould's radio documentaries at the CBC. It was through Tulk that Roberts was introduced to Gould, for whom he began to work. At first he did odd jobs — but he gradually became Gould's man-of-all-work, helping him with many practical aspects of his life and career.
Today, Roberts works as a financial consultant.
